Today is brought to you by Melanie Griffith

For those of you who are old enough, we did a Working Girl (1988) trip this morning. Woke up early and caught the subway down to the ferry station and went over to Staten Island to have a cruise by of the Statue of Liberty. Melanie Griffith played a typing pool temp who had a brilliant idea that was stolen by the evil Sigourney Weaver in this classic rom-com slash business greed is good (it was the like that then) movie. The opening sequence is all these island workers catching the ferry to Manhattan and she lived on Staten Island. The statue is cool but I thought it would be bigger, I also thought the Taj Mahal would be bigger as well so there’s a pattern there.

We also went to the World Trade Centre site which is being built with nice double drop waterfalls in the shape of the foundations of the buildings. The actual centre didn’t open till 10, so we didn’t hang around. Poor Glen can’t get a decent coffee in the mornings because the city that doesn’t sleep also doesn’t get its arse out of bed and open coffee shops earlier than 9.

Also went to the movies and saw X-Men: First Class. Loved it, go see it.
