Bauhaus – or – Germans designed everything?

Wandered down to the Bauhaus museum today. I knew a bit about the movement but did not fully appreciate how much this one school influenced modern design.

We were looking at furniture and household items designed almost 100 years ago that would look good in any inner city apartment today.

This is a short post.  To do the place justice i would have to put in photos of every cool thing we saw and then this page would look like an eBay listing or IKEA catalogue page.

Across the road from the Bauhaus is KPMG’s head office. What caught our eye was in the reflection of their windows, it looked like the clouds were racing across the sky. But it was actually the windows panes rotating creating the illusion. Very short video below.

Short video so you get the effect

I want to know who sold that in? I could see the conversation with the architects. “Yeah i know it is going to triple the cost of the building but if we can make the windows move it would look really cool

Actually what they would have said was “Ja ich weiß, es geht um die Kosten des Gebäudes verdreifachen, aber wenn wir die Fenster bewegen kann es aussehen würde, wirklich cool
