The last few days…

We have been a bit quiet on the posts over the last couple of days. Poor old Zach has been crook, Kurt has been working on an essay for Uni and I have been hard at it getting a new application ready for launch.

And the weather has been less than perfect. Reminds me of a quote…”the coldest winter I ever had was a summer in San Francisco”. Not sure who said it but it certainly applies to Berlin at the moment. Cold and wet.

Zach and i did see the Transformers movie in 3D. It was as bad as we thought it would be – but it was the only flick playing in English. We still have not forgiven Kurt for making us see Mr Popper’s Penguins.

We had the worst pizza in the world.

On a walk to clear my head this week I discovered a new supermarket. Lidl. The Germans have it right when it comes to grocery shopping. There is no need to have 37 varieties of Tomato sauce. A limited selection, means an easy choice and no decision angst. Studies have shown that the greater options the greater anxiety.

With this in mind Lidl is the most stress free grocery experience possible. There is no choice. They have one of everything.

We did go into an Aldi (which i think has a similar approach) in Kreizburg – but it was a shit hole. Kurt walked out and said “ it looked like a Bi Lo after a nuclear winter”

Colbert handles it so well in this video…

On the way to the supermarket we came across another interesting business. God only knows what a Gastro Coach really does.

My young nephew reads this blog – so Matthew – stop reading now and go an play the Xbox.

There are many subtle and clever ways to tell the general public that they are about to accidently walk into a gay bar. The pink triangle and rainbow flag are the most universal. Or you can come up with some clever name or pun.

Next to Lidl, there is a gay bar that decided to remove any ambiguity and called itself “Cocks”. I refrained from putting a photo up – but they have a huge sign out the front.

I  feel sorry for all the people that live above the bar – as it is on the ground floor of large apartment complex.  I can see the conversation…”oh yeah just drop on by, we are around the corner from Lidl and just  above…”

And just so we do not end on a smutty note…

    1. It is sad but the clock is ticking…
Zach heads out next Tuesday and we just have 3 weeks left 😦
But we will be doing it again for sure – with a Singapore layover – not yucky old Bangkok.
